One of the finest hotels in the UK, The Gainsborough Bath Spa’s decadence, service, and unique charm are fit for an emperor.
WHAT?
Opened in 2015, YTL’s first UK hotel The Gainsborough Bath Spa occupies two 18th-century, Grade II listed buildings in the World Heritage city. Named after English landscape painter Sir Thomas Gainsborough, the five-star hotel’s unrivalled spa taps into Bath’s famous thermal, mineral-rich springs once loved by the Romans. There are 99 rooms custom furnished in neo-Georgian stye including a number of luxury suites boasting panoramic views and period features. Walk-in wardrobes, king-sized beds, stunning marble bathrooms with underfloor heating, and thoughtful touches like Nespresso coffee machines and a choice of pillows come as standard.
The Townhouse, a separate Georgian property located adjacent to the hotel, accommodates up to five guests and has a fully-stocked kitchen, dining room, and outdoor terrace.
The Gainsborough Brasserie has crafted a contemporary British menu and an extensive wine list, and brilliantly compliments the chic bar, where expert bartenders serve both classic and contemporary cocktails to each guest’s personal taste, while The Canvas Room is an elegant space ideal for afternoon tea.
WHERE?
Right in the heart of Bath near all of the top shops, restaurants, and attractions – and only a six-minute walk from the train station. It’s the perfect location for exploring the city.
WHY?
The incredible Romanesque spa! The Gainsborough is the only hotel in Bath with access to the city’s natural thermal waters. Guests can wallow in three natural thermal baths and recharge their batteries in traditional and infrared saunas, a steam room, an ice alcove, and relaxation areas. There are also 11 treatment rooms (The Gainsborough Signature Massage comes highly recommended).
The smartly dressed staff are quite simply brilliant and make sure everything is taken care of to ensure a worry-free stay – the service really is second to none and worth every one of the hotel’s five stars. The valet parking is also super useful.
Bath is arguably the most beautiful city in the UK and its style, history, and elegance are reflected in The Gainsborough.
