The Lang Lang Black Diamond grand piano marks the first time in history that one of the world’s greatest classical pianists has been invited to join the design process of a Steinway & Sons Grand Piano.
With its reflections and expressive lines, this piano has been designed to embody the black diamond, a rare and precious gem that echoes Lang Lang’s out-of-this-world performances.
Aside from its unique design, the Lang Lang Black Diamond is one of the first Steinway & Sons pianos to harness the revolutionary new Spirio R technology, enabling professional and amateur pianists alike to record themselves, then reproduce their work identically and instantly on the same piano. This iPad®-controlled system creates new avenues of interacting with the instrument and a new way of experiencing music.
Only eight concert grand pianos ‘Model D’ in Macassar ebony finish and 88 Grand Pianos ‘Model B’ in black high gloss finish, or Macassar ebony, will be available to buy, but to hear the instrument played by the maestro himself, Lang Lang fans can see him on tour at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie in October and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in November.
